Charleston Engagement Photos | Liz + Troy

Photographing engaged couples is my jam …. and downtown Charleston is my absolute favorite romantic backdrop for an engagement photos! There are just so many streets to explore. I seem to find a new one each time I photograph clients in the historic district. And luckily for Elizabeth & Troy the gorgeous purple wisteria was blooming during our time together!

I recently partnered with my talented hairdresser Taylor, from Taylor Becker Hair , for an Instagram Giveaway for an engagement photo session in Charleston plus the winner’s hair styled & false lashes applied. Elizabeth & Troy, who recently moved to Charleston from Chicago, were the lucky couple who won! For their engagement photos, we explored the streets of downtown Charleston and took some dreamy engagement photos!

The couple first met though a mutual friend and bonded over a shared love for all things food and exploring new places. Elizabeth says she knew almost instantly that Troy was going to be the one as he was always so thoughtful! Even on their first date at Troy’s favorite restaurant, The Homestead, he picked out a booth in the back so they could really talk and get to know each other.

Troy proposed on New Year’s Eve in downtown Charleston at Marion Square. The rose gold ring he used to proposed with is especially meaningful as all of the diamonds on the band are from Elizabeth’s grandma. Afterwards, the joyous couple headed to Halls Chophouse for dinner. Everyone in the restaurant knew of the proposal and kindly helped them celebrate their engagement!

Elizabeth & Troy are in the early planning stages of their wedding but they know they want it to be in Charleston! They both grew up in the Chicago area and have decided that they want a relaxed, easy day where their whole family can celebrate and enjoy Charleston! They hinted at possibly having their wedding in a plantation like setting where pretty natural scenery abounds. As well as maybe having the unique touches of a taco food truck and cigar bar!
