THE MAKING OF AN INTIMATE CHARLESTON WEDDING DAY

HOW THEY MET

Danica and Nicholas' love story began when they first met while working on an ambulance in Washington, DC. This adventure-loving couple initially became friends by rock climbing together. They officially began dating two years later. Now they love to push each other both physically and mentally to make each other better people.

HOW THEY KNEW THEY HAD FOUND THE ONE

Nicholas knew Danica was special on their first date! After just a month of dating, he was certain they would stay together forever! Danica also felt the same way as Nicholas made her feel so special and loved.

PROPOSAL

Nicholas proposed to Danica at Great Falls National Park. This location was especially sentimental because it was where their friendship first blossomed while climbing together years earlier.

WEDDING DAY DETAILS

Their wedding occurred right as the COVID-19 Virus got very serious in Charleston. The city banned gatherings larger than 10 people on the morning of the wedding. As a result, sadly some very important guests were not able to attend their small wedding celebration.

Even before the virus craziness started, Charleston elopements were becoming quite popular. These intimate weddings are typically more peaceful and stress-free than big weddings. This allows couples to truly soak in their commitment to one another and enjoy their big day.

DECOR

Danica & Nicholas’ intimate spring wedding was held in the garden of a private residence in downtown historic Charleston. A unique part of the wedding’s decor was a DIY chalkboard made by the aunt of the bride. This sign welcomed guests as they entered the side porch of the Charleston single house. Sterling silver serving dishes and stands filled with catered goodies from Sugar were displayed inside the house. Another highlight was the wedding cake hand-crafted by the host.  It was adorned with the groom’s parent’s vintage cake topper.

EXQUISITE FLORALS

Outside in the garden was a copper arbor decorated by Enchanted Wedding Florals and Beyond. It was bursting with cream, pink, and orange sherbet-colored roses along with green hydrangeas and blue thistle. There were also rich greens of Italian & Israeli Ruscus, curly willow, and trailing variegated ivy too. The aisle for the ceremony was uniquely marked with ivy. The chairs were beautified with wreaths of greenery, roses, and navy-blue ribbon. The bride's showstopper bouquet had gorgeous white anemones with navy blue centers, roses, greenery, and a dreamy green rosette succulent.

GARDEN CEREMONY

The ceremony was officiated by a close family friend while sequestered neighbors watched on their balconies. After Danica & Nicholas recited their vows, newlywed photos, and family photos were then taken. Next champagne was popped to celebrate the union and the wedding cake was cut.

Congrats Danica & Nicholas!! Let your adventure begin!
