Where to Have Your Charleston Engagement Photos Taken
So, you got the ring from your dream partner! Congratulations!! Bet you can’t stop looking at how your bling sparkles in the light! Now you are thinking you may want to get some engagement photos done in Charleston, but you just don’t know where to have these special photos taken. Well, I have been photographing weddings and engagements in the Lowcountry for over 16 years. I definitely have some location ideas for a Charleston engagement session.
Location Ideas for a Downtown Charleston Engagement Session
The majority of my couples want their photos taken in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. It’s not only historic but super romantic. Hello, I mean they filmed The Notebook here. Therefore, the big question is South of Broad or North of Broad.
North of Broad has the infamous Rainbow Row, Charleston Battery, and a house with the cutest little blue shutters you will ever see on Tradd Street. Oh, and did I mention the gorgeous purple Wisteria blooms in the spring!

South of Broad includes Church Street, The Dock Street Theater, and the iconic pink Mills House Hotel. Furthermore, Chalmers Street with its charming cobblestones is close by, as is my favorite grand marble staircase at the four corners of law.
Location Ideas for a Charleston Engagement Session in Nature
Feeling adventurous, let’s hit up some of the beautiful natural Lowcountry scenery. One of my favorite locations for a Charleston engagement session is Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. Another location set in nature is Charlestown Landing home of the Legare Waring House. Additionally, Charleston has a handful of county parks including beaches. My preferred park is Laurel Hill County Park. Not only is it in my backyard, but it has the most picturesque avenue of old oak trees complete with Spanish Moss.
Location Ideas for an Adventurous Charleston Engagement Session
Wanting something more authentic to you and your partner, try where you had your first date or your old college campus. Try and think outside of the box. I’m always up for adventure.
In fact, I recently met up with a couple for a destination session at Garden of the Gods in Colorado.
