Wild Dunes Resort Beach Wedding | Katie + Kody

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Katie & Kody’s Wild Dunes Resort beach wedding. These two cuties were set up through mutual friends in college. From their first date they became inseparable. They both agree it was love at first sight and the rest is history!

Surprise Beach Proposal

Kody’s proposal was an absolute surprise to Katie. They had planned a trip to St. Petersburg Beach, Florida for a mini vacation. Katie had decided it would be a great idea to have some pictures taken on the beach to frame for their apartment so she hired a photographer. Little did she know, Kody had called the photographer and told her of his plans ahead of time. On the beach, Kody proposed with an elegant princess cut diamond framed with a halo of smaller diamonds. It was beautiful, and they celebrated with dinner and drinks on the beach afterwards.

Shared Love of Travel

This couple loves to travel together! Exploring new places and trying new things is one of their favorite things to do. In fact during their 3.5 years together, they have visited Chicago, Pittsburgh, St. Petersburg Beach, Jamaica, Charleston, Nashville, Gatlinburg, Charlotte, and Cincinnati. So Charleston was an obvious choice for a romantic engagement session!

Wild Dunes Resort Beach Wedding

Katie & Kody’s beach wedding was held on the 4th of July at the Wild Dunes Resort in Charleston, SC on July 4, 2020. Because Kody proposed on the beach, the couple held their ceremony on the beach as well for sentimental reasons. A gorgoeus reception followed across the street at Palmetto Hall. It was decorated with tall lanterns and blush and burgundy flowers.
