Sunday Brunch Wedding | Wickliffe House

Charleston Brunch Wedding Experience

Looking for an affordable way to have your dream wedding in Charleston, SC? Why not have a Sunday brunch wedding like Amanda & Ben did at the Wickliffe House? I thoroughly enjoyed photographing this delightful daytime wedding! Neither Amanda nor Ben are originally from Charleston as were the majority of their wedding guests. Therefore, it was important to give their guests a distinctly “Charleston” experience. Amanda & Ben decided a downtown wedding venue was a must. Since the couple both moved to Charleston because of their jobs at MUSC, they liked the idea of getting married in St. Luke’s Chapel. Both Amanda & Ben are religious and thus wanted to get married in a church. The gorgeous Wickliffe House located just across the street made perfect sense as their reception location.

Historic Features

Amanda & Ben kept the décor of their Sunday brunch wedding simple to let the historical features of the Wickliffe House shine. Notable features included wooden beams and stained glass in St. Luke’s Chapel and the original wood floors and fireplaces at the Wickliffe House. In addition, the church doors at St. Luke’s were accented with wreaths of greenery.

Springtime Florals

The bride loves flowers so, the flowers played a primary part in the reception decorations! Since the couple was married in March, they reflected the spring season with their color palette of sage green, blush, and gray. Besides ivory and blush flowers there were tons of greenery as well. Branch Studio even incorporated Spanish moss into the florals to match with the trees outside their wedding ceremony and reception venues.

Local Touches

Local touches were included in the day. For example, the bridal and bridesmaid jewelry came from Grace+Hudson (handmade here in Charleston), and tea bags from the Charleston Tea Garden were gifted to guests as party favors since Amanda & Ben are both big tea drinkers.

Sunday Brunch Wedding Menu

Guests were offered a Sunday Brunch wedding menu of fried green tomato towers, pimento grilled cheese sandwiches, shrimp and grits, and fried chicken biscuits. Afterward, the groom cut into his Sloth-themed carrot cake, and then the couple cut a traditional wedding cake as well.

Unique Exit

After Amanda changed into a white lace getaway dress the couple exited their perfect Sunday Bruch wedding reception into their waiting car. Wedding guests were given tubes of dried lavender to throw during the newlywed’s recessional. It smelled wonderful!!
