Outdoor Garden Wedding Magnolia

Prettiest spring garden wedding I’ve ever had the honor of photographing! This outdoor garden wedding held at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens only came to fruition because of Victoria & Matt’s instant connection when they met. Here’s how their love story unfolded..

Their Love Story

In late August of 2018, Matt and Victoria met at a pool party thrown by mutual friends in Charleston, SC.  After hours of conversing at the party, they went out to dinner alone that night. Two days later, they had their official first date.  Shortly afterward they became exclusive!  A few months later, Matt brought up the idea of marriage. It was a classic situation of “when you know, you know”. Matt proposed to Victoria at The Sanctuary in Kiawah in May 2019.

While the couple wanted to be married as soon as possible, Matt had just finished law school and was beginning to prepare for the bar exam. The couple also knew they would be moving to Greenville, SC shortly for Matt’s job.. Therefore, Victoria & Matt decided to have a longer engagement and plan their wedding for Spring 2021. They are forever thankful that unbeknownst to them this would allow them to dodge COVID-19 wreaking havoc on their wedding plans!

Whimsical Garden Wedding Vision

Victoria and Matt were the first of their friends to get married. They set the bar high with their outdoor garden wedding held at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. Their vision of a crisp, elegant, garden party wedding was designed and executed perfectly by Engaging Events.

Although the entire wedding experience was held outdoors, the couple still wanted it to feel as classic and chic as possible. Therefore, a minimal color palate of white and pale blue with floral accents was used to achieve their goal.

Show Stopping Elements

There were three show-stopping elements that defied expectations at an outdoor wedding and wowed guests:

-The first specialty item was the white arbor at the entrance to the reception. It had greenery winding up the posts which looked to be “growing” across the top.

-The second was the delicately decorated three-tiered custom cake by Jim Smeal. It was expertly framed underneath a lit chandelier hanging from the branch of an oak tree.

-The third was the oversized floral display arrangement at the reception which sat between the two sofas. The stunning arrangement was full of white hydrangeas, roses, peonies, lilacs, Italian Ruscus, and Eucalyptus. Furthermore, adding to its elegance was the copious amount of pillar candles surrounding it.

From the abundant florals to the lounge area, to the dance floor, Engaging Events truly created the most beautiful space for every moment of the evening. Matt and Victoria declared it the best night of their lives and were so thankful to be able to share their whimsical garden wedding at Magnolia with their family and friends.
