Are You Planning a Charleston Spring Wedding?
Whether you are local to the area or traveling from afar, Charleston’s unique culture, southern charm, and hospitality make it the perfect place to say, “I do”.
Charleston is full of romantic and stylish inspiration for your special day. From stunning outdoor venues to incredible local vendors, a Charleston spring wedding can be the perfect combination of elegance and charm. In this blog post, I’ll share some of my favorite ideas for making your wedding truly an unforgettable experience for you and your guests!
The Venue
Located in the heart of the historic district in downtown Charleston, SC, the Gadsden House is the perfect backdrop for your Lowcountry wedding. Downtown Charleston is known to have some of the loveliest cobblestone streets and some of the nation's most iconic historic homes dating back to the 1700s. This wedding venue has three floors of air-conditioned space, a large outdoor oyster tabby patio, and two porches to catch those fresh breezes coming off the coast. Hands down this is one of my fave charming wedding venues in Charleston!
Since the interior of the house itself is neutral and decorated only with gorgeous crystal chandeliers, a color-rich wedding palette can make this venue pop! For this inspirational spring wedding, planner Britt Jones was influenced by Charleston’s Rainbow Row. She blended a combination of pastel pink, blue, and yellow that perfectly captured the energy of Charleston and its beautiful historic homes. Pro tip: ask your florist what flowers are in season to save money on your floral costs.
The Dress
Go bold and stand out from other brides by choosing a unique wedding dress! To capture the liveliness of Charleston, the bride wore a Sarah Seven dress from Lovely Bride. It had one ruffled shoulder and was decorated with fleur-de-lis gems from top to bottom. The fleur-de-lis served as a cheeky nod to the French influence found throughout the city of Charleston. The bride paired this show-stopping gown with delicate jewelry from Anne Marie Bridal and a sleek bun to accentuate her look.
The Decor
The intimate ceremony was held in The Gadsden House's iconic second-story room which was filled with a pastel parade of flowers and candles. The floor-to-ceiling windows helped natural light flood in from every corner allowing for the setup to illuminate. After the ceremony, guests were ushered downstairs. There they were met with an intimate courtyard reception complete with baby blue umbrellas and statement blue linens. Each table included lush florals, gold flatware sat upon romantic blush napkins, detailed menus, pink chargers and goblets as well as light-wash wooden wishbone chairs.
The Cakes
For the final touch, multiple mini pastel-colored cakes evoking a fun springtime vibe were displayed. I love this idea of offering guests many cake flavor options. These classic buttercream confection mini cakes were striking with their intricate white fondant and delicate sugar flowers. If you are not into flowers, other fondant ideas include monograms or oyster shells to pay tribute to Charleston’s coastal charm.
Whether you go simple or extravagant, Charleston is always a great choice when planning your dream springtime wedding!
