Indoor Charleston Wedding Venues
Looking for indoor Charleston wedding venues to escape the heat during the brutal summer and early fall months of South Carolina. Here are my favorite three air-conditioned venues so your wedding guests don’t melt off their seats. All three of these indoor Charleston wedding venues are large enough to hold both your wedding ceremony and reception. As a wedding photographer, they also happen to be three of my favorite ones I have worked with recently.
The Cedar Room
The Cedar Room located in downtown Charleston, is the biggest of the spaces coming in at 8,000 square feet! This makes it ideal for large weddings with room for up to 300 guests to have a seated dinner.
Inside the venue, it’s open and airy. The space features historic wood columns, hardwood floors, and rustic brick walls. The original elements of the circa 1881 building give off an urban industrial vibe. The floor-to-ceiling windows lead to a spectacular view of the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge; perfect for those newlywed photos!
Additionally, the space features a bridal suite, built-in bar, and outside courtyard with 1,500 square feet of additional event space.
Merchant’s Hall
Merchant’s Hall is the second largest venue at 2,800 square feet. It’s great for mid-sized weddings as it can accommodate up to 210 guests. Built-in 1856, this historic indoor Charleston Wedding venue is centrally located in downtown Charleston across from the City Market. It consists of one large indoor room which occupies the second floor of the building as well as a bridal suite. There is an elevator for guests to use as well as very swanky bathrooms. It’s a gorgeous space with multiple show-stopping crystal chandeliers, original brick walls, and wood columns. Overall, this space marries the vibe of luxury and history. I’on Chapel
I’on Chapel is located in Mount Pleasant. It’s a perfect match if you are having an intimate wedding. It can hold up to 80 guests for a seated dinner in its 1200 square foot space. The chapel’s exterior is very charming and in the super cute neighborhood of I’on. The exterior lawn can be tented if need be. Inside the chapel, it's bright and airy. Simple gold chandeliers hang from the high ceilings, while beautifully arched windows let in a ton of natural light. This venue is an excellent backdrop if you like the light and bright style of photography. I’on Chapel was recently featured on the Bustld blog for being such a charming venue.
