Legare Waring Bridal Portraits

I just photographed the dreamiest bridal portraits at the Legare Waring House in Charleston, SC. My beautiful bride, Ashton, is getting married in December when the sun sets super early. So we decided to photograph her bridal portraits on a separate day from her wedding. This way we had tons of time for her to get ready and photograph her at the various locations on the picturesque grounds of the Legare Waring House.

Legare Waring House; Surrounded by beauty, rooted in history

The slogan for this gorgeous Charleston wedding venue is surrounded by beauty, rooted in history. What a perfect summation of this location. The Legare Waring House actually is nestled in between gorgeous gardens inside Charlestown Landing. This state park also happens to be the site of South Carolina’s first permanent settlement. The property boasts freshwater lagoons, blooming azaleas and camellia bushes, and an ancient allee of live oak trees as far as the eye can see.

Bridal Portrait Locations

We started our session inside the stately house, which was built around 1840 and remodeled in 1930. Ashton got ready upstairs in one of the many bridal suites overlooking the grounds. I highly recommend scheduling your bridal portrait session before your big day. It is the perfect time to see if your overall look is cohesive or if anything needs to be tweaked before your actual wedding day. Furthermore, it’s a great time to do your hair and makeup trial run.

Once the bride was dressed, I photographed her on the front lawn of the Legare Waring house under the allee of live oaks. The venue just recently replaced the grass on the allee with fake turf so there is no chance of wedding dresses getting dirty.

Afterward, we took the golf cart which is provided by the venue to the “wedding oak”. It’s a majestic oak tree dripping in romantic Spanish moss, superb for epic landscape photos. Lastly, we traveled to the entrance of this remarkable home where there is an ornate iron gate.

Winter Wedding

The end results of our bridal portrait session speak for themselves! I can’t wait to document Ashton’s actual wedding day at the Legare Waring House. Daydreaming of the stunning images we will get when we add in Gregory, the love of her life! Nothing beats photographing a bride and groom on their wedding day!
